CAQ Applauds Nomination of Mary Schapiro to Lead SEC

Thursday, December 18, 2008

Washington, D.C. – The Center for Audit Quality (CAQ) has issued the following statement by Executive Director Cindy Fornelli in reaction to today’s nomination of Mary Schapiro as SEC Chairman:

“Mary Schapiro is a talented individual, with an abundance of regulatory experience by virtue of her leadership of the SEC, CFTC and FINRA.

Having worked with Mary at the SEC, I know her to be a tough, but practical, regulator – which is both a rare combination of qualities and at the core of a skill set that will be of critical importance in guiding the Commission in this challenging economic environment.

I very much look forward to working with Mary in her new role as SEC Chairman.”
