Washington, D.C. – The Center for Audit Quality (CAQ) issued the following statement from Executive Director Cindy Fornelli reacting to the appointment of Paul Beswick as Chief Accountant of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC):

“The CAQ congratulates Paul Beswick on his appointment as SEC Chief Accountant. The work performed by the Chief Accountant is extremely important for the public company auditing profession. Paul’s leadership and contributions to critical accounting and auditing issues in his prior roles at the Commission put him in good stead to take the helm, and we look forward to working with Paul in his new capacity.”
