CAQ Statement on the Passing of Former PCAOB Chairman Mark W. Olson

Washington, DC – The Center for Audit Quality (CAQ) issued the following statement from Executive Director Cindy Fornelli in response to the news of the death of Mark W. Olson, the former Chairman of the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB):

“The CAQ is saddened by the passing of Mark Olson, a distinguished public servant and a gentleman.

“At the helm of the PCAOB, Mark was tested by difficult moments, both for his organization and the markets. In the face of those challenges, his leadership was exemplary, marked by thoughtfulness and strong dedication to protecting investors and enhancing audit quality. 

“The CAQ honors Mark’s life and work, and our thoughts go out to his family and loved ones.”
