Confidence in US Markets and Public Company Auditors Stays Strong, According to CAQ Survey

Eighty-three percent of US investors express confidence that public company auditors are effective in their investor protection roles, according to the 2019 . The annual CAQ poll captures the views of Americans who have at least $10,000 invested in the capital markets through retirement plans or direct holdings.

Fielded from August 19 to August 22, 2019, the survey shows that 74 percent of US investors express confidence in US capital markets and that 78 percent of US investors express confidence in audited financial information, among many other data points.

As a companion to the Main Street Investor Survey, the CAQ released a that features CAQ Executive Director Julie Bell Lindsay discussing why strong investor confidence is vital for the capital markets and the broader economy.

 

Now Available: Videos and More from the 11th Annual CAQ Symposium

Materials from the , held last month in San Francisco, are now available on the CAQ website. The event, which coincides each year with the Annual Meeting of the American Accounting Association (AAA), is a key part of the CAQ’s ongoing dialogue with the academic community about how research can inform audit practice.

CAQ Taps Amy O’Connor to Lead Stakeholder Engagement and Communications Efforts

Amy O’Connor has joined the CAQ as Senior Director of Stakeholder Engagement and Communications. O’Connor brings the CAQ a broad range of experience, including founding Move the Shakers, a communications and public affairs consultancy, and holding senior communications and engagement strategy roles at the Business Roundtable and Eli Lilly and Company. “We are delighted to have Amy on board,” .

As Vice President at the Business Roundtable, O’Connor implemented a digital public affairs and communications transformation that included rebranding the organization, establishing new digital initiatives and capabilities, and launching advocacy campaigns tied to sustainability and other key policy priorities. Prior to her work at the Business Roundtable, O’Connor was Eli Lilly’s Senior Director for Communications, Digital & Social Media.
