Washington, DC – Center for Audit Quality (CAQ) Executive Director Cindy Fornelli released the following statement congratulating Marc A. Panucci on his appointment as Deputy Chief Accountant for the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC):

He has extensive private-sector experience in public accounting, including development of auditing policies as a partner with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP. His expertise in matters such as internal control over financial reporting and the SEC’s oversight of the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board—gained during his previous tenure with the SEC—will also serve him well.
“The CAQ congratulates Marc, and we look forward to working with him toward our shared goal of strengthening the capital markets.
“Additionally, the CAQ thanks outgoing Deputy Chief Accountant Brian Croteau for his service to investors, markets, and the public company auditing profession. We wish Brian well in his future endeavors.”
