J. Michael (Mike) McGuire

Chief Executive Officer
 

J. Michael (Mike) McGuire is the chief executive officer for Grant Thornton LLP. Executive Summary Mike has more than 32 years of experience working closely with clients in a variety of industries, including technology, services, construction, manufacturing, venture capital, distribution, retail and franchising. He has significant experience in capital markets transactions ranging from venture capital to initial public offerings. He has advised numerous companies in a variety of industries on merger and acquisition strategies, due diligence and deal structure. Prior to his election to CEO, Mike served on the firm’s Senior Leadership Team as national managing partner – operations. In this role, he chaired the firm’s Operating Committee and oversaw the firm’s human resources, marketing and sales teams. In addition, the regional managing partners and the Global Public Sector managing partner reported to him. He also chairs the Grant Thornton Foundation and serves on the Grant Thornton International Global Board. Previously, he served as the national managing partner of Markets, Industry, People & Culture and was the managing partner of the firm’s Carolinas practice. He also served on the firm’s Partnership Board. Prior to joining the firm, he spent 20 years with Arthur Andersen in numerous roles of increasing responsibility, including as Audit practice leader for the Carolinas. Community Involvement Mike has served on more than 35 community boards during his career and currently serves on the board of directors for the following organizations: Charlotte Chamber of Commerce Advantage Carolina – Chairman Bechtler Museum of Modern Art Grant Thornton Foundation – Chairman Queens University of Charlotte Education Mike is a graduate of Bowling Green State University with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and management information systems. He is a licensed CPA in both Illinois and North Carolina.
