The Center for Audit Quality SEC Regulations Committee meets periodically with the staff of the SEC to discuss emerging technical accounting and reporting issues relating to SEC rules and regulations. The mission of the SEC Regulations Committee is to protect investors by improving the quality of public company financial reporting by identifying, discussing, and facilitating resolution of issues relating to the promulgation, interpretation and application of SEC rules, regulations and policies with the assistance of the SEC staff and communicating those matters publicly on a timely basis.

The International Practices Task Force (IPTF) is a task force of the SEC Regulations Committee. IPTF also meets periodically with the Staff of the SEC to discuss and focus on international emerging technical accounting and reporting issues relating to SEC rules and regulations. The mission of the IPTF is to protect investors by improving the quality of public-company financial reporting by identifying, discussing, and facilitating resolution of issues relating to the promulgation, interpretation and application of SEC rules, regulations and policies with the assistance of the SEC staff and communicating those matters publicly on a timely basis. The SEC Regulations Committee and the IPTF meet periodically with the staff of the SEC to discuss emerging technical accounting and reporting issues relating to SEC rules and regulations. The purpose of the joint meeting highlights is to summarize the issues discussed at the meetings (between the SEC staff and the members of the SEC Regulations Committee and IPTF). The highlights of these meetings have not been considered and acted on by senior technical committees of the AICPA, by the Financial Accounting Standards Board, SEC or the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board and do not represent an official position of any of these organizations. In addition, these highlights are not authoritative positions or interpretations issued by the SEC or its staff. The highlights were not transcribed by the SEC and have not been considered or acted upon by the SEC or its staff.
