Dr. Dan Short

Dan Short is Dean of the M.J. Neeley School of Business at TCU. Previously, he was Dean at the Richard T. Farmer School of Business Administration at Miami University and the College of Business at Kansas State University. Prior to that he was Associate Dean and Director of the Executive Master of Business Administration program at the University of Texas at Austin, where he was on the faculty for 15 years. He has also taught at the University of Chicago.

Dan did his undergraduate work at Boston University and received his MBA and PhD from the University of Michigan.

Dan’s primary professional interest is the use of accounting information by decision makers. He has published numerous articles on the topic in leading academic and professional journals. He has taught courses designed for financial statement users at such organizations as First Chicago, McDermott, IBM, Bank IV, Salomon Brothers, and Paine Webber. He has also done consulting work for Exxon and the United States Air Force. Dan has served on several corporate and community boards.

Dan is the author of a textbook on financial accounting that is used at more than 175 universities in the United States and Canada.

Dan is married to the former Maryrose Orban. They have two daughters. Jennifer is the mother of two in Mansfield, Texas and Heather works for Lockheed Martin in Fort Worth.
